Challenging Year for Tennessee Agriculture Outlined in Report to Governor

A team of AREC research and Extension faculty outlined challenges faced by Tennessee’s agricultural producers in this year’s economic report to the governor. The report summarizes a year wrought with unique difficulties brought about by supply chain issues and global events, such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, that triggered volatility in commodity and input markets. Comprising the team are Andrew Muhammad, Andrew Griffith, David Hughes, Jamey Menard, Aaron Smith, Sreedhar Upendram, and Edward Yu.

UTIA Launches Fellowship to Help Meet Projected Employment Shortfall

The UT Institute of Agriculture received a USDA-NIFA grant to launch a new graduate fellowship program designed to help meet the projected need for international trade leaders. Andrew Muhammad, AREC professor and Blasingame Chair of Excellence in Agricultural Policy, will lead the new concentration in international agricultural trade and development. The concentration will serve as the foundation of its new master’s program at the Institute.
